Mining Injustice Solidarity Network (MISN)

The Mining Injustice Solidarity Network (MISN) is a Toronto-based grassroots activist collective that organizes to draw attention to and resist the harmful practices of Canadian mining companies, who comprise over 75% of mining businesses worldwide.

Founded in 2008, MISN operates as a horizontal collective making decisions by consensus and working entirely on a volunteer basis with no government or corporate funding.

In solidarity with affected communities and in response to their calls, MISN educates the Canadian public on mining injustices world-wide advocates for stronger community control of mining practices and self-determination in mining-affected areas, and agitates against corporate impunity to support regulatory change.

The organization takes an anti-oppressive, feminist approach to organizing and supports the principle that mineral exploration or exploitation must not proceed without the free, prior, and informed consent of affected communities.

MISN operates an Impacted Community Fund that provides direct financial support to mining-affected communities upon request.
